Prof Minoru Kasai
Prof Minoru Kasai is among the rare thinkers in the line of Ananda kumarswamy and Prof AK Saran. He belongs to that receding school of philosophers who have gone to the roots of traditions and cultures in order to see through civilisational changes and interpret them on the grounds of reason that is sustained by truth. Born on June 13, 1932, he retired in March 2001 from ICU, where he worked for 34 years. Major publications (in English): Gandhi and the Contemporary World (Poona: Center for Communication Studies, 1980) "Studying Gandhi in Universities" (1995); "Culture and Development: A Japanese Reflection and Observation" (1997); "The Cosmos and Humanity as a Healing Family" (1999); "With God, With Heaven-Earth and With the People: Discovery of Givenness of Reality" (2002).
SM Mohamed Idris
President and founder of Third World Network, Citizens International and the Consumers Association of Penang, Malaysia, he has inspired many a young and vibrant intellectuals of former colonised countries to take up the challenge of decolonising our minds and establishing authentic intellectual traditions. He has is a father figure and staunch supporter of such intellectual and nonviolent grassroots movements that bring change of heart and mind. He was awarded Right Livelihood Award, besides many other honors.
Fr George Gispert-Sauch SJ
A theologian of high esteem and repute, Fr Gorge Gispert-Sauch is a scholar and teacher who brings out the best from all religious philosophies in the manner the Mahatma thought it the duty of theologians and religious teachers. Fr George teaches Hind Swaraj to his students: MA in Sanskrit (University of Bombay) and PhD in Theology (Catholic University of Paris) on theme of ananda in the Upanishads. Fr George has 42 years of postgraduate teaching experience in the Vidyajyoti College of Theology in Delhi. He is born in Spain in 1930, studying and working in India since 1949.
Reema Abdalla
Reema Abdalla is from Lahore, Pakistan and is actively involved in the activities of the Foundation for Democracy in Pakistan. She has experienced worst of war ravages violence around her in her home country Lebanon and is a strong advocate for nonviolence.
Natwar Thakkar
Natwar Thakkar is working since past forty years in the conflict zone of North-East, Nagaland in India to promote goodwill and emotional integration through voluntary social service on Gandhian lines. Thakkar went to Nagaland in early 1955 and established the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram.
Kashif Hameed
Kashif Hameed works in the violence torn area of Waziristan in Pakistan; conducts dialogues among tribals of the region on peace, nonviolence, democratisation and good governance besides the issues of immediate concerns. He is Executive Coordinator of Center for Research, Communication & Dialogue (CRCD), Islamabad and Coordinator Al-Sehar Foundation, a Cultural organisation Kashif has been involved in facilitating CRCD and Tribal Network in the launch and implementation of a broad based peace programme for the tribal areas of Pakistan worked also on a documentary on traditional musicians and dancers of Lahore.
Dr Shinya Ishizaka
Dr Shinya Ishizaka is a researcher at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University, Japan. His major publications in English include "The Anti-Tehri Dam Movement as a New Social Movement and Gandhism" (2007) and "Politics of 'Sublimation': The Gandhian Environmental Movement in Contemporary India" (2008). Dr Shinya along with another colleague and student of Prof Minoru Kasai, Dr Ayoko Uno are planning Hind Swaraj project in Japan. Born on October 24, 1976 Dr Shinya is a student of Prof Minoru Kasai and teaches Hind Swaraj to the youth in Japan.
Martina Pignatti Morano
Born in 1979, Martina Pignatti works with an Italian NGO - Un Ponte per... (A bridge to...) with the aim of empowering Iraqi and Middle-Eastern civil society organisations. She supports the activities of the Iraqi nonviolent movement LAONF, and of the Palestinian grassroots nonviolent resistance. She works in Italy for the establishment of Civilian Peace Corps; involved in the international campaign of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions on Israel for the respect of international law and human rights.
Kieth May
Keath May is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mahatma Gandhi Center for Global Nonviolence at James Madison University, USA. A farmer by profession, Keath is an active community leader who has involved the community around the University in development of the Gandhi Center due to his deep interest and commitment to Mahatma Gandhi’s thought.
Pracha Hutanuwatra
A close colleague of Achan Sulak Sivaraksa, Pracha heads the Wongsanit Ashram a Thai eco-settlement and hub for social change near Bangkok. Besides many educational and awareness building programmes for social change and sustainable development, Wangsanit Ashram organizes Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) and Training courses in Thailand and in many different urban and rural contexts around the world promoting a more holistic way of living.
Somchai Viriyabunditkul
Somchai is a journalist and owner of a reputed publishing company. She supports nonviolent initiatives and is closely associated with constructive dissent in Thailand and with movements for social change, ecological living and constructive alternatives. She works closely with Achan Sulak Sivaraksa.
Dr YP Anand
Dr YP Anand is the former Chairman of Indian Railway Board and the former Director of National Gandhi Museum, Delhi, and Fellow, Indian National Academy of Engineering; Institution of Engineers (India). In 2004 he was honoured as an ‘Engineering Personality’ by Institution of Engineers (India). Authored books on ‘Non-motorised Transport of India: Current Status and Policy Issues’ (1996), ‘Transport Energy Nexus – Towards Sustainability and Mahatma Gandhi’s Works and Interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita.
Tenpa C Samkhar
Tenpa Samkhar is the Executive Director of Active Non-Violence Education Centre (ANEC), Dharamshala. Her is also the former Tibetan Cabinet Secretary for Political Affairs and former Health Secretary of Tibetan Government in exile in India. He is a Fulbright scholar.

Ram is from Chennai, has done a new Tamil edition of Hind Swaraj. He is Chief of Samanvaya, an organization engaged in research in issues of development and public advocacy for traditional Indian knowledge system.
Pradip Dixit
Pradip Belongs to Azadi Bachao Andolan (Save Freedom Movement) and operates from Sewagran Ashram in Central India. Along with a dedicated team of young activists and campaigners, they have made some new experiments in Khadi, the Hand spun-hand-woven textile to make it self sustainning. Rajiv Dixit
A powerful public opinion maker and speaker on traditional Indian systems, its subversion by the British colonial rule and present plight of the India ad in particular of the peasant due to historical wrongs and now due to the take over of Indian self reliance by MNCs, Rajiv has a patriotic and nationalist fervour about his public discourses which are also available on CDs. He regularly appears on the Astha Channel and works closely with famous Yoga teacher Swamy Ramdev. Rajiv has been one of the founders of the Azadi Bachao Andolan.

A technocrat by education and earlier well placed professional carrier in the USA, Hiremath came back to India to work among the poor and environmentally displaced in the Karnataka, his native place. An environmentalist from Hind Sw.araj perspective, he has fought many a nonviolent battles for the rights of the poor and for restoration of environmentally sound practices and laws.

As a young man Prashant came out of the straight jacketed of education and involved himself in meaningful campaigns including Tibetan movement and worked closely under the guidance of Achan Sulak Sivaraksa. He is Director of Deer Park Institute in the foothills of the Himalayas, near Dharamshala.

A businessmen turned social, cultural and educational, writer, public speaker and activist, Founder Director of SIDDH, Pawan and his team have developed educational experiments that uses students’ neighborhood and environment as the primary resource for education ad skills development, so that the youth develops a positive attitude towards his/her village, neighborhood and one;s own culture rather than a self image of backwardness.

Dr Ashok Vaidya
Dr Vaidya is a memer of Indian Drugs Advisory Board and a known scientist. He is currently the Research Director of Kasturba Health Society and Adjunct Professor in Microbiology and Immunology at Drexel University in Philadelhia. He is recognised as a leader in Clinical Pharmacology and Ayurvedic research. He was recently awarded with 'Lifetime Achievement' at the 5th Nutraceutical Summit held at New Delhi for his lifelong research and leadership.

A Gandhian and writer among senior bureaucrat, presently Governor of Sikkim, Shri Balmik Prasad Singh was formerly Secretay of the Ministry of Culture and then Home Secretary GOI. During his Chairmanship of the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Shri B P Singh contibuted considrably in building up this unique institution of learning.
Kantibhai Shah
A veteran Gandhian Sarvodaya leader from Gujarat, Kanibhai has been a laing ideologue and interpreter of Sarvodaya Philosophy, Gandhian vision and Hind Swaraj. A leading part of the Sarvodaya movement since 50s, he has brought to Gujarati readership some of the major New Age thinkers through translating their works. He is responsible as editor for establshing a Sarvodaya bi-weekly, Bhoomiputra, as one of te leading Gujarati journal. He has established a ashram in the tribal regon of South Gujarat.
Himanshu Kumar
Dantewada Ashram of Himanshu Kumar in Chattisgarh, bulldozed by the state police recently, has attracted nation’s attention for its Gandhian experiment in nonviolence and satyagraha for the just cause and mitigation of routine killings, torture, arson and dispossession of the tribal community in the name of Maoist and anti-Maoist armed campaigns. Himanshu has steadfastly taken the challenge of violence and in that process become target of the vested interests of the politics of violence and exploitation of the tribal. He has vast support among the people, and put the political leadership o the test of democratic and constitutional norms and rules.

Prof Prabodh Parikh
Prabodh Parikh is a Gujarati poet, short fiction writer and visual artist. He retired recently as Head of the Department of Philosophy at Mithibai College, Mumbai. His book of poems, Kaunsman, published in 1993, is a significant collection in Gujarati literature, representing thirty years of work in poetry. It won him several awards, including the Best Poetry Collection of 1993-94 (Gujarat Sahitya Akademi) and the GF Saraf Award for Best Gujarati Book in 1992-95.
